Discord Embeds

Control the card Discord shows when someone opens your link.

Links from your image host unfurl into a full embed on Discord. The Embed Editor decides what that card says.

The Embed Editor

Open Uploads → Settings → Embed Editor. Changes apply to every new link, and you can override a single file later.

What you can set

  • Title — the bold line at the top of the card.
  • Description — the text under it.
  • Theme colour — the coloured bar down the left edge.
  • Author line — usually your username, or nothing at all.

Per-file overrides

Hover a file in the grid and press the palette button to give that one file its own embed. Reverting drops it back to your account defaults.

Cache

Discord caches embeds. After changing an embed, an already-posted link may keep showing the old card for a while.

Stripping photo metadata

Strip photo metadata removes EXIF from JPEGs before they are stored, including GPS coordinates from phone cameras. It is on by default and worth leaving on.

Turning embeds off

With Discord Embed off, links resolve to the plain file with no card. Handy when the preview gets in the way.
